Terms of service

By creating a BuddyLingo account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not create an account. “We” and “us” mean BuddyLingo; “you” means the adult who holds the account.

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract. A child may not create an account. You set up your child's profile, you supervise their use of it, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.

Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think somebody else has it. One account is for one family; sharing credentials outside your household is not permitted, and neither is reselling access.

An account currently carries one child profile. If you have more than one child, you need more than one subscription.

Every new account gets 7 days of full access, free, with no payment details required. When the trial ends the account simply stops working until you subscribe — you are never charged for forgetting to cancel a trial, because there is nothing to cancel.

After the trial, access requires a paid subscription. The price and billing period are shown before you enter any payment details, and they are what you will be charged. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it.

Payments are taken by Dodo Payments acting as merchant of record. They are the seller for the transaction, they calculate and remit applicable taxes, and their name is what appears on your statement.

If a renewal payment fails we keep the account open for a short grace period so you can fix the card before your child loses access. See the refunds and cancellation policy for how to stop a subscription.

• Use the service to break the law, or to harm or harass anybody.
• Attempt to extract, scrape, resell or retrain on the content, lessons or word banks.
• Interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or work around usage limits and access controls.
• Attempt to make the AI tutor produce content that is unsuitable for children.

We may suspend or close an account that does any of this. Where the breach is minor and fixable we will tell you first.

The software, the artwork, the pet characters, the lessons and the word banks are ours, and using the service does not transfer any of it to you. Anything your child creates — a story they wrote, a world they built — remains theirs; we store it only to give it back to them.

The tutor is an AI system. It is scoped tightly to the lesson in front of it and reviewed for suitability, but no such system is perfect and it can occasionally get something wrong. BuddyLingo is a supplement to schooling and parenting, not a replacement for either, and it makes no promise about a particular educational outcome.

We work to keep the service running but cannot promise it will never be unavailable — maintenance, outages at our providers and problems beyond our control all happen. We may change or discontinue features; if we remove something significant, we will say so in advance.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and none of it affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer.

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which BuddyLingo is established, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except that, if you are a consumer, you keep any right you have to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence.

If we change these terms materially we will email the address on your account before the change takes effect; continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept the new version. For anything at all, write to support@buddylingo.app.
